Are you looking for a fun favor for your child’s class at school? Do you want to hand out something other than sugar this Halloween? Try making a batch of these easy juggling balls decorated to look like little jack-o’-lanterns!
Most likely you’ll have most of the materials on hand. All you need is a box of white rice, plastic sandwich bags (preferably the ones that fold), a package of bright orange balloons, and a black permanent marker.
With a measuring cup or your hand, scoop about a half-cup of rice into a sandwich bag. Twist the open end of the bag until it is closed. With scissors, snip the tips off of two balloons to enlarge the opening. Stick the bag of rice into one of the cut balloons. Carefully wrap the other cut balloon around the bag of rice, overlapping the first balloon. Make sure that the opening of the first balloon is completely covered.
Now you are ready to turn the ball into a jack-o’-lantern. With the black marker, draw a simple pumpkin face onto the balloon. If you are making these for a classroom, turn the face-making into a party activity. Give each child a couple of balls and let them create their very own jack-o’-lanterns.
